WORLD CHAMPION NICOLSON CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY AHEAD OF AUSTRALIAN HOMECOMING AGAINST ARCH-RIVAL BROWN

PhilBoxing.com

Two rivals traded verbal blows in a head-to-head this week before their March 22 clash in Sydney – live on DAZN

WBC World Featherweight Champion Skye Nicolson hosted a special celebratory lunch on Friday to mark International Women’s Day in London – before warning Tiara Brown to forget about spoiling her homecoming party Down Under.

The ‘Future Undisputed’ 29-year-old Australian returns to her motherland for her next World Title defence on March 22 – live worldwide on DAZN, in partnership with Matchroom Boxing, DiBella Entertainment and Ferocious Promotions, and in association with Tasman Fighters and Goldstar – when she defends the green and gold belt against mandatory rival Brown.

The pair traded verbal shots in a virtual head-to-head in the build-up to their highly anticipated bout at Sydney’s Qudus Bank Arena. And Nicolson is confident she will have her arm raised for the 13th successive time in her professional career in two weeks’ time.

“I’m very excited to be fighting in Australia. The plan is to defend this and go on to collecting more belts. I’ve never been in a position where I’ve been in a fight, so I’m hoping this will be the first time and I’ll put on a great performance in front of my home fans” the 12-0 (1 KO) star told Brown.

“I posted that I wanted ‘all the smoke’ in the Featherweight division – and I think Tiara took that personally. She responded with, ‘I’m the smoke, and you can all get the smoke’ and it kind of all just went from there. I've never not wanted to fight Tiara. I’m very excited for this fight and I think it will be a great fight. Our styles will clash well, and I can’t wait."

Unbeaten Brown, who boasts a record of 18-0 with 11 by way of knockout, snapped back: “It means the world to me to fight for the WBC belt. And that’s exactly how it went down. many people were showing me what was said and I was like, ‘OK, let me respond to this’.

"For a long time, I would just sit back and listen because I don't really care what people have to say. But a lot of people think that I should be talking more and in tune with what’s being said on social media, so I thought I’d throw my name into the mix.

“I feel like she [Skye] has been given the easy road to the world title. She's been spoon fed. I believe she knows that too because I’m sure I saw a comment saying she likes to be spoon fed. It’s not personal… it’s business. We need more people to be pushing women’s boxing and we need people watching this great fight.

“I respect Skye and everything she has achieved in this sport."

Nicolson, meanwhile, marked International Women's Day 2025 alongside a collection of female journalists, broadcasters and influencers in London before she jets home to Australia for her huge World Title clash with Brown – where she hopes to inspire more girls to participate in the sport and lay down a marker for her aspirations of becoming a future Undisputed World Champion.

“I’ve fought and beaten the best in the division to become a World Champion. That’s what this sport needs and that’s what my team and I will keep doing in my quest to win it all,” Nicolson added.

"Tiara’s earned this fight and she’s pushing it – and that’s what women’s boxing needs. This will be a great night and a great fight. Don’t miss it.”
