EMIL ROMANO WISHES PACQUIAO GOOD LUCK!
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Sat, 28 Jun 2008
BANGKOK--Superstar Manny Pacquiao's former trainer Emil Romano is wishing his former protege good luck as he challenges WBC lightweight king David Diaz tomorrow at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Romano, who worked with Pacquiao since his first fight as a junior featherweight, expressed confidence that Pacquiao would be able to wrest the crown from the bull-strong Diaz, althought he stated that the Gensan lefty should keep his focus all throughout the 12-round battle.
"Bilib ako dyan kay Manny sa lakas. Buo ang tapang, buo ang loob sa laban. Basta sumuntok lang sya ng sumontok, mananalo sya baka knockout pa ang resulta," said Romano in an exlusive interview here in Thailand.
Romano last worked with Pacquiao when the latter took on Nedal Hussein in Antipolo, won by Pacquiao by technical in the tenth round.
Pacquiao then went to the United States to campaign following that fight.
Romano was also in Pacquiao's corner when he stopped Reynante Jamili in two easy rounds to claim the WBC International superbantam crown in Paranaque City.
"May tiwala ako dyan kay Mannny, alam ko mananalo sya mas malakas sya kay Diaz, at mas matapang. He will become the first Filipino four-division world champion. Proud ako sa kanya," added Romano.
