Marikina's oldest chess player to compete in rapid chess tournament on March 8

Domingo Santos also known as Tatay Domeng who is 97 years old and the oldest chess player of Marikina, is set to compete in the "March to Remember Rapid Chess Tournament" to be held on March 8, 2025 at the QGym, Concepcion Dos, Marikina City.
Woman National Master (WNM) Antonella Berthe "Tonelle" Racasa, April Joy Ramos and Adrian Alarcon are seeing action along with Kyz Llantada, Noel Geronimo, Tristan Jared Cervero, Sol Tiamzon, Edwin Tendecia, Michael Angelo Angeles, Clord Bragais and Carl Jaedrianne Ancheta.
Senator Koko Pimetel has been invited as a special guest during the opening ceremony along with Rep. Miro Quimbo and Rep. Stella Quimbo.
The tournament is exclusive for Marikina residents will have a time control of 15 minutes plus 2 seconds increment in this 1-day affair organized by Marikina Chess Association headed by sportsman Johnny "Joel" Gaudia.
"It will be a great inspiration to all of us with the participation of Tatay Domeng (Domingo Santos), Marikina's oldest chess player," said Gaudia.
The champion will pocket P7, 000, the runner-up will take home P5,000, the third and fourth placers will claim P3,000 and P2,000, while the fifth to sixth placers will get P1,000 each. 8th to 20th placers will receive P500 each while the 21st to 50th placers will earn 1 sack of 5 kilos rice each.
There will be special prizes for the top 3 Under 14 performers, Top U-12 and Top Under-10; Top Senior (60 years old and above), Top PWD, Top Lady, Youngest Player and Oldest Player.-Marlon Bernardino-
