The annual celebration of the Philippine Technological Council – World Engineering Day (PTC-WED), which coincides with the 1st National Engineering Month (NEMO), started with tree-planting activities hosted by the Philippine Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers (PSABE) on March 1, 2025, at La Mesa Eco Park, Greater Lagro, Quezon City. The planting and growing of Palosapis trees was participated in by different Engineering Professional Organizations in the country, such as PSABE, the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers (IIEE), Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME), Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP), Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines (GEP), Society of Aerospace Engineers of the Philippines (SAEP), Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE), and Society of Metallurgical Engineers of the Philippines (SMEP). “Plant a million trees, one sapling at a time. Together, we’re shaping a greener tomorrow,” said Engr. Hazel Reyes of PSABE. Done on the same day and venue was the Technical Seminar on Flood Management and Mitigation, organized by PICE. PTC-Young Engineers Section (YES) continues with its annual Project Pakamat for the Aeta community of Bagac, Bataan.

PTC is a National Member of various international engineering organizations such as the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), the International Engineering Alliance (IEA), and the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (AFEO), which advocate for international recognition of engineering qualifications and engineering mobility. With the representation of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), UNESCO, during its 40th General Conference in 2019, proclaimed the 4th of March every year as World Engineering Day (WED) and has been celebrated worldwide every year since 2020. WED highlights engineering and engineers’ achievements and contributions to sustainable development and modern life. Hence, on March 4, the PTC Women Engineers Network (WEN) will conduct a Sustainable Energy Forum for students of Far Eastern University Diliman.

The month-long event includes various sports such as Chess (March 8 at Koten Gym, Pasay City), Pickleball (March 8 at FCIE Sport Center, Dasmariñas, Cavite), Basketball (March 8, 15, 22, 23, 29, and 30 at Mariana Community Center, Q.C), Golf (March 15 at Veterans Memorial Golf Course), Dart (March 16 at Tiendesitas, Pasig), Bowling and Billiards (March 22 at Gateway II, Cubao), and Fun Run (March 23 around SM MOA). The culmination will be in Abu Dhabi, UAE, with an International Sports Festival on March 30 and an International Technical Seminar on April 5-6. -Marlon Bernardino-
