MIAMI, FL, February 28, 2025 -- Cuban heavyweight Yoandy Toirac made his professional debut on December 6, 2024 with a devastating fourth-round knockout over former world title challenger Lateef Kayode in a bout schedule for eight rounds. With the win, Toirac won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental Americas North American Heavyweight and the World Boxing Council (WBC) Latino Heavyweight titles.

Toirac defended the WBA title this past Saturday, February 22 with a third-round stoppage over former American Boxing Federation Inter-Continental Heavyweight Champion Mario Aguilar (now 23-10, 19 KOs). Both fights took place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Toirac, as an amateur, was five-time Cuban National Heavyweight Champion; a Silver Medalist in the AIBA junior world championships; Central America Caribbean Games Gold Medalist; and a two-time quarter finalist in the Pan American Games. His amateur career concluded with a 378-37 record.

“I have no time to waste,” said Toirac. “That is the reason why my team agreed that I would debut fighting for WBA and WBC regional titles. I see that there are opponents that I have fought and beat in the amateurs that are ranked in the top 10 of the world, and I know my time will come very soon. I want to earn everything I accomplish, and the ultimate goal is the world heavyweight championship.”

Toirac continued, “After having recorded over 300 amateur wins and being Cuba’s National heavyweight champion multiple times, I always knew I wanted to turn professional and fight the best competition in the ranks. I am working to get better every day and Coach McKinley has been very demanding of me to help me reach the top of this division.”

Toirac’s advisor and boxing attorney, Tony Gonzalez, added “It is a privilege working with Toirac. He is a dream of a talent in the most prestigious division in boxing and is a very hard worker. He never complains and has adapted very well working with Stacey McKinley. When working with a quality boxer with his vast experience, you immediately must throw him into the deep end because he has proven he can compete at a high level. He is very smart in the ring and the angles and overall ring generalship he shows is off the charts. It is not very often you get to work with this type of talent. With his talent and dedication to getting better, there is no doubt see a future World Heavyweight Champion.”
