HERNANDEZ-GIRON WEIGHIN RESULTS IN QUEBEC

PhilBoxing.com

Quebec, Canada – February 27, 2025 – The weigh-ins are complete, and the stage is set for an explosive night of boxing tomorrow at the Centre Videotron in Quebec, Canada, headlined by a clash of big-hitting super-featherweights Eduardo Hernandez and Rene Telles Giron. The event, promoted by GYM (Groupe Yvon Michel), will air live on DAZN starting at 8:00 PM ET, with tickets available now via Ticketmaster.ca. Fans can also reach out to GYM directly at info@groupeyvonmichel.ca for more information.

The main event will see Mexico City’s Eduardo “Rocky” Hernandez (129.4lbs) square off against Queretaro’s Rene Telles Giron (131.6lbs) in a 12-round battle for the WBA Continental Americas Super-Featherweight title. However, drama unfolded at the scales as Giron came in over the 130-pound limit, tipping the scales at 131.6lbs. As a result, the title is only on the line for Hernandez, who made weight comfortably. Giron’s failure to meet the mark adds an extra layer of intrigue to this already highly anticipated matchup.

Hernandez, known for his devastating punching power, will look to capitalize on his opportunity to claim the regional strap and solidify his standing in the super-featherweight division. Giron, meanwhile, faces the challenge of overcoming both his opponent and the fallout from his weigh-in misstep in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

Undercard Highlights
The night’s undercard features a trio of compelling bouts, showcasing a mix of local talent and international fighters:

Heavyweight Clash (10 x 3 mins): Quebec’s own Alexis Barriere (236.8lbs) will take on Mexico’s Ubaldo Ilagor (291.4lbs) in a 10-round showdown. Barriere, a rising star in the heavyweight ranks, faces a formidable challenge in the significantly heavier Ilagor, who outweighs him by over 50 pounds.
Middleweight Bout (8 x 3 mins): Local middleweight Derek Pomerleau (162.2lbs) will test his skills against Nottingham, England’s Nathan McIntosh (157.4lbs). Pomerleau aims to thrill the home crowd, while McIntosh looks to spoil the party in this eight-round contest.
Featherweight Opener (8 x 2 mins): Kicking off the televised portion of the card, Alberta’s Jelena Mrdjenovich (125.8lbs) faces off against Lombardia, Italy’s Jessica Bellusci (125.6lbs) in an eight-round featherweight bout. Both fighters hit the scales nearly identically, setting the stage for a closely contested battle.

How to Watch
Fans won’t want to miss a second of the action, with DAZN providing live coverage starting at 8:00 PM ET. The combination of high-stakes title action and a stacked undercard ensures this will be a night to remember for boxing enthusiasts.

Will Hernandez seize the moment and claim the WBA Continental Americas title, or can Giron defy the odds despite his weigh-in woes? Tune in tomorrow to find out.
