By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Wed, 08 Jan 2025
THE slated fight between former Australia-based Michael Correa of Bohol against Min Ho Jung of South Korea on January 11 at the Nova Boxing Gym in Incheon, South Korea was cancelled.
This was revealed by 39-year-old Correa [3-11-3, 1KO] yesterday.
“Gi-cancel ang away namu [Our fight was cancelled.],” said Correa.
He wondered why it was cancelled.
Correa was supposed to make a comeback after 10 years out of the ring against Min [17-5-2, 5KOs].
“I am ready to fight. I have been sparring with my boxers and I’m already 135 pounds,” said Correa.
Correa made his last fight in Australia on November 14, 2014 with a unanimous decision loss against Blake Minto of Australia at the Panthers Newcastle in Newcastle West.
Correa had a total of 12 fights in Australia from 2010 up to 2014 including two title bouts.
Correa then went home to the Philippines and started training with the amateurs in Bohol.
His 16-year-old daughter Jhanah Mae Correa recently won the gold medal in amateur boxing [48-52k] in the Batang Pinoy held at Puerto Princesa City in Palawan.
Correa is also planning to have professional boxers soon.
