Comebacking Correa to fight in Korea

PhilBoxing.com

FORMER Australia-based Michael Correa of Bohol is making a comeback after 10 years on the ring.

The 39-year-old Correa [3-11-3, 1KO] will fight Min Ho Jung [17-5-2, 5KOs] of South Korea on January 11 at the Nova Boxing Gym in Incheon, South Korea.

Correa made his last fight in Australia on November 14, 2014 with a unanimous decision loss against Blake Minto of Australia at the Panthers Newcastle in Newcastle West.

Correa had a total of 12 fights in Australia from 2010 up to 2014 including two title bouts.

Correa first lost to Aussie Kye MacKenzie by unanimous decision for the vacant Australian National Boxing Federation New South Wales super featherweight title on June 15, 2013 at Town Hall in Gunnedah.

His second title fight was against George Kambosos Jr., where he lost again by technical knockout in the 6th round for the vacant ANBF NSW lightweight title on November 22, 2013 at Croatian Club in Punchbowl.

Correa went home to the Philippines and started training with the amateurs in Bohol.

Her 16-year-old daughter Jhanah Mae Correa recently won the gold medal in amateur boxing [48-52k] in the Batang Pinoy held at Puerto Princesa City in Palawan.

“It used to be 12 amateur boxers,” said Correa, who lives in Toril, Alburquerque, Bohol.

Correa is also planning to have professional boxers soon.

“But there's still a lot to worry about,” said Correa.

Meanwhile, the 31-year-old Min, a former WBC Asian Silver welterweight champion, had two fights last year all in victory.

Min won against Shinsei Otani of Japan by a unanimous decision last March 15, 2024 at the Fashion Center in Event Hall in Seoul, South Korea.

Min then stopped Maninder Singh of India in the 1st round last August 15 at Yugwansud Gym in Cheonan.

Byung Soo Moon of Nova Boxing is the promoter.
