Plania, 5 Others Open Overseas Pinoy Ring Campaign in 2025 By Teodoro Medina Reynoso PhilBoxing.com Mon, 06 Jan 2025 Mike Plania. Mike Plania and five other Pinoy fighters will see action ushering our ring campaign abroad this 2025. Plania (31-4-0, 18 KOs) will challenge tall American knockout artist Omar Cande Trinidad (17-0-1, 13 KOs) for his Continental America's featherweight title in their scheduled 10-round main event bout at the Commerce Casino in Commerce, California on Jan. 17, 2025. Also seeing action in the card with Plania is veteran light flyweight Lito Dante who will be battling another young undefeated American Alexander Gauche (6-0, 5KOs) in a scheduled 6 round bout at super flyweight. It will be Plania's fourth fight against American opponents in the US counting his first against Angelo Leo for the WBA North American featherweight belt which he lost by 3rd round knockout in January last year. Plania had won his last two bouts by knockout in the US since losing to Leo who is now the IBF world featherweight champion after knocking out Mexico's Luis Alberto Lopez last August. Though the record of Trinidad looks scary, he has not fought the type of opponents Plania has in his record that included Areese Aleem and Jeremiah Pierce though Mike also lost to both. Mike though has to get through the American's long reach in order to have a chance for a knockout. Plania is currently handled and promoted by Laura Ching of M&R Promotions based in Miami, Florida who also has Filipino Mark Bernaldez and Nicaraguan Felix Alvarado as wards. On January 18, 2025 in Japan, three other Pinoys will see action with two going for regional and international belts. In the triplebill main event, the unbeaten Lorenz Dumam-ag (10-0-1, 7KOs) will collide with Japan's once beaten Jukiya Iimura (7-1-0, 2 KOs) over 12 rounds for the vacant OPBF flyweight championship. The only mark in Dumam-ag record was a technical draw with Christian Gagarin in his sixth pro outing. Meanwhile the loss on Iimura's slate was pinned by a Filipino Esneth Domingo who knocked him out in 2022. Two Japanese fighters will vie for the vacant OPBF featherweight championship in the other featured 12 round bout. In the last of the triplebill, Michael Casama ( 10-2-1, 10 KOs clashes against undefeated Kenji Fujita (7-0-0, 3 KOs) over 12 rounds for the WBO Asia Pacific featherweight championship. Casama won his last fight in Japan by knockout but six of Fujita's wins thus far have been against Filipino fighters including Jeo Santisima. Also in this card is Alvin Camique (9-3-0 4 KOs) who fights Sento Ito (2-0-0, 0KOs) in a scheduled 8 round bout at bantamweight. Actually, Jed Encinares (0-1-0) will open up the campaign in Japan in a 4 rounder at bantamweight against a debuting Moto Konuma on January 14 in Fuji, Shizouka. Encinares lost his own debut fight to Daisuke Igarashi last August. The author Teodoro Medina Reynoso is a veteran boxing radio talk show host living in the Philippines.
