Dainier “The Fear” Pero Makes His Case for 2024 Prospect of the Year

PhilBoxing.com

LAS VEGAS, NV (December 15, 2024) – Dainier “The Fear” Pero (10-0, 8 KOs), the undefeated 25-year-old heavyweight breakout talent promoted by Boxlab Promotions, is making his case to be crowned 2024 Prospect of the Year. With a perfect 5-0 record in 2024, each victory coming by knockout, Pero has solidified himself as one of the most exciting and dominant rising stars in boxing. Trained by the 2022 Ring Magazine and Sports Illustrated Trainer of the Year, Bob Santos, Pero has become a force to be reckoned with in the heavyweight division.

With each fight, Pero demonstrated his devastating knockout power, amazing footwork, and tremendous ring IQ, making him a clear front-runner for 2024 Prospect of the Year. Last night, live on DAZN as part of MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects 10 card, Pero claimed the vacant WBA Continental USA Heavyweight title with an impressive TKO victory over Walter Burns (8-3, 6 KOs).

Pero’s 2024 campaign was nothing short of extraordinary. Fighting exclusively at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida, Pero delivered knockout victories over five tough opponents:

Joe Jones – 2nd Round KO on February 2
Jose Mario Tamez – 1st Round KO on April 26
James Evans – 5th Round KO on July 26
Willie Jake Jr. – 3rd Round KO on October 19
Walter Burns – 1st Round KO on December 13

“Training with Bob Santos has elevated every aspect of my game,” said Pero. “He’s helped me focus on perfecting my power, conditioning, and strategy. His knowledge and experience are unmatched, and it shows in my performances. Las Vegas is where champions are made. Sparring with top fighters here has kept me sharp and constantly improving. The level of competition is incredible, and it’s pushed me to be my best.”

Bob Santos, who has guided Pero’s spectacular rise, shared his belief in the young heavyweight’s talent. Because of his incredible footwork and raw power, Santos compares the young gun to a bigger more powerful version of Oleksandr Usyk.

“Dainier Pero is the next great heavyweight in the world,” said Bob Santos, a seasoned trainer with over 25 years of experience working with some of the biggest names in boxing. “His power, athleticism, and high ring IQ make him stand out from everyone else in the division. He moves with the precision and agility of a young Usyk, showcasing exceptional footwork, impressive ring generalship, and true explosive power. Being named 2024 Prospect of the Year would be a well-deserved recognition of the hard work and dedication he’s put into his craft.”

“Dainier Pero is a generational talent,” said Boxlab Promotions President Amaury Piedra, who sees a very bright future for his young heavyweight. “His performances in 2024 were nothing short of spectacular, and his knockout power is second to none. He’s shown he’s ready to take on the best in the division and naming him Prospect of the Year is a testament to his incredible year and limitless potential.”

Pero attributes his success in 2024 to staying consistently active in the ring. Regular fights kept him sharp, allowing him to build momentum and refine his skills with each performance. He believes that consistent competition is crucial for a fighter's growth, as it not only enhances physical readiness but also strengthens mental focus and confidence.

“Fighting constantly is what every fighters wants and I’m grateful to my team, my promoter for making this year one of the best for my career,” concluded Pero. “Activity is everything in this sport. Fighting five times in one year has helped me stay in rhythm and grow as a fighter. Each fight gave me an opportunity to learn and show the world what I can do. Discipline is the key to longevity in this sport. Between fights, I’m focused on eating clean, staying fit, and recovering properly. That’s how you stay ready for the next challenge.”

Hailing from Camaguey, Cuba, and now fighting out of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dainier “The Fear” Pero is rapidly being recognized as one of the top rising stars in the sport. With a perfect record, explosive power, and relentless dedication, Pero has proven himself worthy of 2024 Prospect of the Year. Fans and experts alike are eagerly awaiting his next step as he continues his march toward heavyweight glory. Trained by Bob Santos and promoted by Boxlab Promotions, his standout 2024 campaign has established him as one of the most promising prospects in boxing.
