Vicente to fight veteran Ocampo on Dec. 17
By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Thu, 12 Dec 2024
UNBEATEN welterweight Justine Vicente of General Santos City will fight veteran Jose “The Bomber” Ocampo of Alabel, Sarangani on December 17, Tuesday at Bucana in Davao City.
“It will be a 6-rounder fight for 122 pounds,” said promoter Ronan Jacob Palalisan of RJP Boxing Promotions.
The 21-year-old Vicente, who is now under RJP Boxing Stable recently scored a knockout in the 1st round against Rusty Padua of Gensan last December 23, 2023 in M’lang, North Cotabato.
“But it will be the first fight of Vicente under RJP Boxing Stable, he used to be under Braveheart,” said Palalisan.
Ocampo, 35, on the other hand, lost to former WBC Asia and IBF Asia super lightweight champion Adones Cabalquinto of Kapalong, Davao del Norte by a unanimous decision last August 26, 2024 at Almendras Gym.
Ocampo [21-17-1, 13KOs] suffered a cut on his right eyelid from an accidental head butt in Round 5.
The Vicente-Ocampo brawl is the main supporting bout of the "Road for Glory". The main event is Mark Glen Antaran [5-11-3, 3KOs] of Malungon, Sarangani against Venjie Patac [2-9-1, 1KO] of Dinagat Islands.
Two other RJP fighters will also see action – super light Jet Bruce Fornes and minimum weight Michael Bantayan.
Fornes will clash with Jamaldin Al-hattami of Marawi City while Bantayan will come to blows against Jared Leya of Gensan.
“They will both debut on December 17,” said Palalisan.
