EIGHT-DIVISION WORLD CHAMPION MANNY “PAC MAN” PACQUIAO ELECTED TO INTERNATIONAL BOXING HALL OF FAME PhilBoxing.com Fri, 06 Dec 2024 ![]() Hall of Fame Weekend Set For June 5-8, 2025 CANASTOTA, NY - DECEMBER 5, 2024 - The International Boxing Hall of Fame and Museum is pleased to announce eight-division world champion Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao has been elected into the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. “We’re very excited for Manny Pacquiao and the Hall of Fame is very much looking forward to honoring his many achievements with induction into the Hall of Fame,” said Executive Director Edward Brophy. “His accomplishments will be recognized during the 2025 Hall of Fame Induction Weekend set for June 5-8th.” Pacquiao will receive a gold Hall of Fame ring and a plaque with his biography and photograph will be on permanent display on the Hall of Fame Wall. The Official Enshrinement Ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 8th. "I am so happy that I have been selected to enter the International Boxing Hall of Fame. This certainly is a wonderful Christmas gift. Throughout my career, as a professional fighter and a public servant, it has been my goal to bring honor to my country, The Philippines, and my fellow Filipinos around the world. Today, I am humbled knowing that in June, I will receive boxing's highest honor, joining our national hero, Flash Elorde, as well as my trainer and friend Freddie Roach. I am very grateful to those who voted for me, and I look forward to celebrating with family, friends, and fans at Induction Weekend in Canastota, New York," said Pacquiao upon receiving induction news. The fighting pride of the Philippines, Pacquiao is one of the most decorated boxers in history. He captured world championships in a record eight weight divisions from flyweight to super welterweight. During his 26-year he defeated Hall of Famers Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Shane Mosley and Miguel Cotto. He also owns a pair of wins over Hall of Famers Juan Manuel Marquez, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales and Timothy Bradley Jr. “Pac Man” was a three-time The Ring and BWAA “Fighter of the Year’” (2006, 2008, 2009) and named “Boxer of the Decade” by the BWAA (2000-09). One of the top pay-per-view draws in history, he retired in 2021 with a record of 62-8-2 (39 KOs). The Class of 2025 also includes Michael “Second To” Nunn and “The Pazmanian Devil” Vinny Paz in the men’s Modern category; Yessica “Kika” Chavez, Anne Sophie Mathis and Mary Jo Sanders in the Women’s modern category; referee Kenny Bayless,cut man Al Gavin (posthumous) andreferee Harry Gibbs (posthumous) in the Non-Participant category; broadcaster /journalist Randy Gordon and television producer Ross Greenburg in the Observer category; Rodrigo Valdez (posthumous) in the Old Timer category; Cathy “Cat” Davis in the women’s Trailblazer category: and Owen Swift (posthumous) in the Pioneer category. The Class of 2025 will be honored during the Hall of Fame Induction Weekend on June 5-8, 2025 in “Boxing’s Hometown.” Many events will take place in Canastota and nearby Turning Stone Resort Casino throughout the four-day celebration including ringside talks, fist casting, fight night, 5K race / fun run, boxing autograph card show, banquet, parade and induction ceremony.
