Sanman to promote vacant IBO minimumweight title in Gensan next month

SANMAN Boxing Promotion will promote its biggest boxing presentation this year – a vacant International Boxing Organization [IBO] World minimumweight title fight on December 18 at the Bula Gym in General Santos City.
Sanman president JC Manangquil said that former 3-time world champion Katsunari Takayama of Japan will fight against undefeated Kha Lu of Australia in the main event.
Takayama used to hold the WBC World minimumweight title, IBF World minimumweight title and WBO World minimumweight title.
Takayama then challenged Elwin Soto of Mexico for the WBO World light flyweight title but lost via a technical knockout in the 9th round on May 8, 2021 in Arlington, USA.
Takayama [34-9-0, 12KOs] had a one-year rest in 2022 before he again scored two wins last year.
He beat Joel Lino of Davao City and Jerome “The Machine” Baloro of Cavite both by a unanimous decision.
Lu, on the other hand, recently scored a unanimous decision win against Watcharin Buacharoen of Thailand last March 16, 2024 at The Melbourne Pavillion in Flemington, Australia.
Lu has seven straight wins with three knockouts.
The Takayama-Lu title-fight will be supported by the other exciting fights of Sanman boxers.
“This Christmas presentation is free to the public,” said Manangquil.
Sanman Boxing is also composed of Dexter Tan and John Ray Manangquil.
