AUSTRALIAN HEAVYWEIGHT TALENT TEREMOANA INKS PROMOTIONAL DEAL WITH MATCHROOM BOXING

PhilBoxing.com

Olympian added to December 14 Monte-Carlo Showdown V

Australia’s Paris 2024 Olympics star Teremoana Teremoana has signed a long-term promotional deal with Eddie Hearn, in association with GoldStar and Tasman Fighters, and will make his Matchroom Boxing debut on the prestigious Monte-Carlo Showdown V at Salle Des Étoiles on Saturday December 14, shown live on DAZN.

The 26-year-old Heavyweight hails from Campbelltown, a suburb of Sydney in New South Wales, and was a gold medalist at the 2023 Pacific Games.

Raised in Brisbane, Queensland, Teremoana Jr announced himself on the global stage of the Games earlier this summer when he emphatically knocked out Ukraine’s Dmytro Lovchynski in the first round of his opening Olympics bout.

Although he came up short in the quarter-finals to eventual champion, 14-0 Uzbek pro, Bakhodir Jalolov, Teremoana’s signature was highly sought-after following the Games.

Guided by Katie Taylor’s legendary manager Brian Peters, Teremoana has already fought four professional fights – all four resulting in knockout wins, with his last outing coming back in 2022.

"I'm born and raised in Australia but I'm also very proud of my Cook Islands heritage," said Teremoana. "I come from a long line of warriors and I'm very motivated to carry on the family name. I want the world to know it and I won't stop until I've achieved that.

"I want to be on the world stage and I know that if I put in the work I have the ability to do that. The plan is to continue to build a fan base at home in Australia but also all around the world. I'm excited to get going on this journey and the first stop is Monte Carlo.

"I've learned so much over the last few years and really enjoyed the Olympic experience but now it's time for a new phase in my career. My dream is to become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the world and I believe with Matchroom, GoldStar, and Tasman Fighters behind me I can achieve that. It's going to be an exciting ride so let’s go!“

And Matchroom promoter Hearn was delighted to win the race for towering, 6ft 6in, heavy-hitting Heavyweight who he believes has all the credentials to become a huge success for his world class stable of elite fighters.

“I'm delighted to add another exciting Heavyweight talent to our growing global stable” said Matchroom Sport Chairman Hearn. "Teremoana gave us all a glimpse of what he is capable of in the Paris 2024 Olympics and his style and ability has improved drastically in recent years. He sees his Matchroom debut next month in Monte-Carlo as his new professional debut and I'm sure he will be putting many in the Heavyweight division on notice. Watch the Monte-Carlo Showdown V live on DAZN."
