DC to participate in first Jiu-Jitsu in Batang Pinoy

DAVAO City will be participating in the first jiu-jitsu event in Batang Pinoy 2024 on November 23 to 28 in Puerto Princesa in Palawan.

“It is a big step forward for Jiu-Jitsu in Davao and Jiu-Jitsu in the Philippines in general,” said head coach Marc Alexander Lim, the only Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Blackbelt in Davao City.

The players are Jewel Empleo [Girls juvenile - under 52kg], Ethan Arañez [Teens boys - under 56kg], TJ Pineda [Teens boys - under 69kg], Judd Tancontian [Juvenile boys - under 73kg], Kristofer Velasco [Teens boys - under 62Kg] and Gabriel Igcasenza: [Juvenile boys under 55Kg].

Lim doesn’t want to set expectations from the team.

“But if our kids perform in competition as well as they perform in training, I believe we will win. I just want them to do their best and think of nothing else and I think they will do well,” said Lim.

The team is supported by Limitless Coffee and More, Limitless Fitness and Martial Arts, 82 Rising, Revere, VHTS, Axzeen Security Agency, Urban Grind Coffee, Halifax Glass and Words and Pixels.

“Our future starts with the grassroots and this is a good event to help give experience to kids and coaches,” said Lim of the Limitless Fitness and Martial Arts.

Lim is a SEA Games Gold Medalist, a IBJJF world championships medalist and an Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games silver medalist.

He is still a part of the Jiu-Jitsu National team.
