PEDRO TADURAN STOPS GINJIRO SHIGEOKA IN 9, RECAPTURES IBF WORLD TITLE BELT

PhilBoxing.com

Strong Filipino Pedro G. Taduran (17-4-1, 13 KO’s) of Albay Province stopped unbeaten Japanese titlist Ginjiro Shigeoka (11-1, 9 KO’s) in nine chapters to Become THE NEW IBF Minimumweight World Champion tonight, July 28, at the Shiga Daihatsu Arena in Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, Japan.

So hard was the rumble that Ginjiro had to be rushed to hospital on a stretcher after losing his world title to the Filipino Taduran. Let's hope that he will be perfectly OK.

Sad for him, Gijiro has just followed on the steps of his brother Yudai, who last March also lost his world title to another Filipino, Melvin Oliva Jerusalem.

The young Japanese's end came at the 2 minutes and 50 seconds in the ninth round, failing to make a successful 3rd world title defense. Taduran, meanwhile, reigns again as champion of the world!

Ginjiro, 24, was unable to fulfill his role as the main event in Shiga's show promoted by former champ Koki Kameda. The Pinoy was tOo good, too strong, too powerful for him.

Without a doubt the brave heart Ginjiro did his best, throwing punches, trading with the more-experienced Filipino champ born in Albay Province.

Pedro Taduran and his team celebrate after Taduran stopped defending Japanese champion Genjiro Shigeoka Sunday night in Japan.

A tough body shot thrown by Ginjiro landed on Taduran in the first round as the fight between the two world-class southpaws heated on.

In response, Taduran increased his pressure, scoring punches of power that began taking its toll on Ginjiro.

By the third round, Ginjiro's nose was bleeding and his right eye was swollen, a by-product of the Pinoy sustained bombardment.

In the fierce exchange of blows that ensued, Taduran connected to the Nippon champ with even more effective, devastating hits, not giving Ginjiro a minute to think nor regroup, reducing him completely.

After the eighth round, the referee gave the OK for the fight to go on as the ring doc had checked on Ginjiro's condition.

Then, as many fans were already sensing, the end drew so near for Ginjiro.

Ginjiro Shigeoka's corner check the condition of their boxer after badly beaten by Pedro Taduran during the IBF world title fight Sunday night in Japan.

The Filipino got into even a higher gear of fighting, not letting his red and golden IBF world title crown get away, overpowering the obviously exhausted Ginjiro Shigeoka, forcing the American third man to step-in and waive off!

Taduran called Ginjiro "the strongest fighter he has ever fought."

Tonight, the Best Man Won, Congratulations to Pedro Taduran, the New Two-Time IBF Minimumweight Champion of the World!
