FLYWEIGHT Jayson “The Smasher” Mama [19-1-0, 10KOs] of General Santos City will fight again, this time in East Timor, officially the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, which is a country in Southeast Asia.
“The date is not sure yet. I still don’t know my opponent,” said the 26-year old Mama.
His twin brother Jerwin Mama [13-4-1, 7KOs], a super flyweight, is currently training at the Sanman Boxing Gym in San Isidro, Gensan.
Both of them graduated BS Criminology at Holy Trinity College last 2022.
The Mamas still do not know when they will stop boxing and afterwards work as policemen.
“We are still focusing on boxing right now,” said Mama.
Jayson is now busy preparing for his fight in East Timor.
Jayson beat former world-rated Robert “Inggo” Paradero of Malaybalay by unanimous decision last June 6, 2023 in T’boli, South Cotabato.
Jerwin, on the other hand, was more busy last year.
He first outpunched Ruben Dadivas by a spit decision last February 26 at Lagao Gym in Gensan. But Jerwin then suffered a knockout loss in the 4th round to undefeated Yahir Alan Frank Verdigo of Mexico last June 17 in Merida.
Jerwin again was knocked out by Japan’s Hiroto Kyoguchi in the 3rd round last September 22 at the Korakuen Hall, Tokyo.
