Fajardo, Simsri Make Weight for OPBF 108 Belt in Osaka, Japan
By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Sat, 13 Apr 2024

What a thrilling collision! Filipino Mel Fajardo (11-1-2, 10 KO's) and Thai knockout artist Thanongsak Simsri (32-1, 30 KO's) successfully made weight ahead of their high-octane battle for the OPBF Light Flyweight Belt set for Saturday, April 13, at the EDION Arena in Osaka, Japan.
Fajardo, 24, came in at 48.5 kilos, while the 23-year-old Simsri made 48.6, both young, world-class fighters looking in super strong, relaxed and ready for the crucial 12-round match.
The fight is crucial for both fighters because the winner elevates his standing in the light flyweight division, inching closer to being considered as a world title challenger while the loser could be taken out of the world rankings, getting back to the drawing board. This is a must-win fight!
It is also a rumble that might not make the long distance, and who will the big winner be?
Will the "Silent Assassin" rock and disassemble Simsri the same way he did to John Paul Gabunilas in August of last year at the Hoops Dome in Cebu? Or will Fajardo find another way to win?
Or will the tough world-ranked Thailand slugger be the one to control and dominate the popular Pinoy fighter?
The show is promoted by Masaya Motoishi of Green Tsuda Promotions, live on Japanese streaming service Lemino.
May the Best Man Win!
