Ador Torres Scores Round 4 TKO WIn in Thailand, Still ABF-147 Champ By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Fri, 29 Mar 2024 Bangkok, Thailand — Filipino 147-pounder Ador Torres (11-4-1, 8 KO’s), knocked out crafty Thai Wanphichit Siriphana in four frames to keep his ABF Welterweight Belt. Torres’s title win unfolded during the newest Highland Boxing Promotions show on Thursday, March 28, at the cozy SpacePlus Bangkok in Bangkok, Thailand. The 29-year-old southpaw from Magdalena, Sorsogon Province started slow, giving ground to the more active and effective Wanphichit that most likely cost him the first two rounds that worried his team members. Thankfully, the Pinoy had a positive reaction during the third chapter when he began throwing and landing his right jab, sometimes repetitive action, the downloading the Thai with debilitating straight lefts and right hooks to the body that indeed improved the fighting situation of the Bicolano, turning the tide on his favor. Obviously, those damaging blows took its toll on Wanphichit who seemed to become a different warrior thereafter. By frame four, Ador Torres had taken full command of battle by continuously scoring ravaging attacks on his foe. Nearing the two-minute mark in chapter 4, Torres kept the pressure on in the middle of the ring with the much-weakened Wanpichit unable to return fire, forcing Thailand ABF referee Piphat Srisaneh to stop the very unbalanced situation. The chronometer from timekeeper Mrs. Phakhaphon Songmani indicated the official time: 2:16 in round four. The win is the Sorsogon-native’s 4th successful defense of his ABF (Asian Boxing Federation) welterweight title. Ador Torres – who last Sunday was one of the awardees during the 1st Pacquiao-Elorde Gala Dinner in Manila – will stay in Bangkok for a few more days. He is scheduled to fly back to Pinoyland on April 8. Congratulations! Click here to view a list of other articles written by Carlos Costa. |
