ALL SET FOR ACAPI QF MATCHUPS

The Quarterfinals Phase for the 1st President's Cup (ACAPI 1st Conference 2024) is scheduled to begin Game 1 on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, using the Chess.com online chess platform. This was announced by ACAPI President and main sponsor, Engr. Rey Urbiztondo. ACAPI, the Association of Chess Amateurs in the Philippines, Incorporated, organized this chess event that caters to various categories for non-titled chess players and enthusiasts.

ACAPI has just wrapped up the Elimination Round, which started last February 13, 2024. The Top 8 chess teams in each Division have advanced to the Quarterfinals.

The six-division chess online competition was participated in by about 102 chess teams with more than 450 chess players nationwide and some from abroad.

The Open Division was topped by Panabo Knights Chess Club, a team owned by National Master (NM) Henry Roger Lopez, with an aggregate Grand Prix score of 2,850 points. Second place went to the team from Oroquieta City-AMOFCA (2,400 GP points), owned by Engr. Urbiztondo. Third place was claimed by Davao Durianburg Stallions (2,000 GP points), owned by ACAPI Exec. VP/Atty. Jose Dionisio Guevarra, Jr.

Rounding out the quarterfinalists are:

4th - Las Piñas City-TFCC CMC (GP Points - 1,850)
5th - Tangub City-AMOFCA (GP Points - 1,570)
6th - Valenzuela City-White Knights Chess Club (GP Points - 1,550)
7th - Misamis Occidental-MEPCA Titans (GP Points - 1,490)
8th - Malolos City Chess Club (GP Points - 1,450)

In the Senior Division, the chess team of Madridejos Knights Chess Club led by US-based Mr. Josito Dondon won first place in the Elimination Round with GP Points of 1,375. Next at 2nd place was Surigao Diamond Knights with GP Points of 1,240, a team also owned by Engr. Urbiztondo and managed by Engr. Dohjie Morales, ACAPI VP-External, and at 3rd place was again Davao Durianburg Stallions, with 950 GP points. The rest of the top 8 were; #4 Malolos City Chess Club (GP Pts.-940), #5 Las Piñas City-TFCC CMC (GP Pts.-830), #6 Panabo Knights Chess Club (GP Pts.-810), #7 San Juan City-Crame-PPKGCC (GP Pts.-800) and #8 Valenzuela City-WKCC (GP pts.-760).

For the Female Division, Las Piñas City - TFCC Chess Movers Club, team owner NA Ferdinand Reyes, Sr., ACAPI Auditor, and Team Manager Ferdie Reyes, Jr., Chief Arbiter-PCAP, topped the event with a total GP Points of 1,320. This team was led by National Women's Chess Championship-campaigner, AIM April Joy Ramos. At 2nd spot in this Division was Imus City-CEFAG-PPKGCC (GP Pts.-1,120), 3rd place - Laguna-White Knights CC (1,035), 4th place-Davao Durianburg Stallions (960), 5th place -Toledo Xignex Trojans (950), 6th place- Panabo Knights CC (900), 7th place - Malolos City CC and 8th place - Valenzuela City-WKCC (670).
The Youth Division had the following top 8 winners;

1st Place - Panabo Knights CC (1,275) 5th place - Valenzuela City-WKCC (830)
2nd Place- Biñan City "A"-UPHS (1,165) 6th place - Tangub City "B"-AMOFCA (374)
3rd Place- Biñan City "B"-UPHS (1,025) 7th place - Laoag City Sunshine CC (740)
4th Place- Davao Durianburg Stallions (845) 8th place - Toledo Xignex Trojans (725)

The Under-12 Division had the following top 8 winners;

1st Place - Tuguegarao "A" Kidz CC (1,340) 5th place - Tuguegarao "C" Kidz CC (920)
2nd Place- Panabo Knights CC (1,065) 6th place - Toledo Xignex Trojans (790)
3rd Place- Davao Durianburg Stallions (965) 7th place - Laoag City Sunshine CC (790)
4th Place- Valenzuela City-WKCC (955) 8th place - Las Piñas City-TFCC CMC (780)
Finally, in the PWD Division had the following top 8 winners;
1st Place - Panabo Knights CC (1,270) 5th place - Caloocan City-PPKGCC (945)
2nd Place- Catanduanes Happy Island (1,210) 6th place - San Juan City-Crame-PPKGCC (905)
3rd Place- Davao Durianburg Stallions (960) 7th place - Imus City-CEFAG-PPKGCC (855)
4th Place- Malolos City Chess Club (960) 8th place - Valenzuela City-WKCC (745)

As for the Quarterfinals Matchups, each Division will be conducted in 4 games to determine the match winner and move on to the Semi-Final Round. Here are the QF Matches;
