The Cycling Supporters Davao sets a 2-day race in Ciudades

THE Cycling Supporters Davao (TCSD) is staging its biggest and most exciting two-day race at the Ciudades Town Center in Mandug, Davao City.
Organizer Lenny Navaja – Urdaneta said that the Mountain Bike Criterium and Mountain Bike Cup Challenge will both be held on August 6 while the Road Bike Criterium is on August 13.
“Originally we wanted to hold it for four days. But the city reduced it to just two Sundays,” said Urdaneta.
Urdaneta and co-organizer Diday Casaljay are both former members of the PhilCycilng Davao under the late Salvador “Jun” Paholio Jr.
Casaljay, who is married to former Asian Games stinter Ruel, will again be the Race Director of the event.
She will be assisted by the veteran and former Philippine National team member Dominic “Dino” Carpio.
“We are expecting some 200 riders to join the mountain bike while the road is again 170,” said Casaljay.
Among the early registrants are the Team España from Luzon, Team Bumba Gensan, Team Lanz Lutayan,Team Boss M Koronadal, Team Henry Cagayan, Team CF-Cycling from Bukidnon, Team FCT M’lang, Team WYB Hagonoy, Team Titay Digos, Team ADT Digos, Team Bikehive Digos,Team BCC Panabo, Team Pump Panabo, Team Tri Active Tagum, Team Hob Tagum, Team Titan G Davao, Team RnR Davao and Team Dav Sur Roadies Digos.
“We’re expecting Cebu, Ozamis and Manila to arrive on the road,” said Casaljay.
Cash prizes worth P114,000 and medals will be given away.
The event was initially organized this year by TCSD with Pepsi, Nature’s Spring, Fitbar and Ciudades as the sponsors.
