Kayla Jane Langue bags Para Chess in Women Sports

MANILA---Kayla Jane Langue emerged as the top woodpusher in the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and Pilipinas Para Games-backed chess tournament dubbed as Para Chess in Women Sports at the Athlete's Dining Hall of PhilSports Complex in Pasig City on Saturday, July 15, 2023.
The 20-year-old Las Pinas City based Langue, who hails from Agusan del Norte swept the double round robin format by scoring a total of 4.0 points against two other contenders in the Visually Impaired-B1 category.
She defeated twice 23-year-old Abigail Magno of Las Pinas City and 45 years old Yolanda Pespes of Baguio City. Magno settled for second place while Pespes rounded off the top three woodpushers.
The top three winners in the Visually Impaired-B2 were Alille Magno (gold), Phoebe Kayna Asis (silver) and Angel Jerryl Suhillo (bronze).
In the Physically Impaired National Athletes, Atty. Cheyzer Mendoza bagged the gold while Cheryl Angot pocketed the silver for her second place finish while Aime Dumagpi won the bronze medal for her third place finish.
The tournament was organized by PSC commissioners Olivia "Bong" Coo and Walter Torres in close cooperation with Philippine Paralympic Committee president Michael Barredo, National Council on Disability Affairs executive director Joniro Fradejas, Philippine para chess team coach National Master James Infiesto, International Arbiter Patrick Lee, Mr. Alex Dinoy and Ms. Rowena Bautista.-Marlon Bernardino-
