King's Gambit Online Chess School Players Dominate 1st Eugene Torre Cup Youth Chess Tournament PhilBoxing.com Sat, 15 Jul 2023 King's Gambit Chess School Chess players, playing under Coach Richard Villaseran, stamped its class in the recent 1st Eugene Torre Cup Youth Chess Tournament held at the Robinson's Galleria Mall, Ortigas, Quezon City on Saturday. All 5 players of King's Gambit Chess School who participated made a great account of themselves with Stephen Quinto spearheading a 1-2 finish with Jian Carlo Rivera in the Boys U15. Marticio's siblings National Master Jeremy and Woman National Master Jersey, both placed 2nd in the Boys U18 and Girls U18 respectively with Jersey losing the title on tie-breaks. The 5th King's Gambit Chess School player Vincent Ryu Dimayuga was solo leader in the Boys U15 after 4 rds but lost to Quinto and eventually placed 7th. "I am so proud and elated with the performance of the players. Had the breaks gone our way, it could have easily 3 championships (Boys and Girls U18) and 1-2-3 finish in the Boys U15." said Coach Villaseran. Coach Villaseran runs a thriving chess school with its elite training programs boasting of the country's top age groupers. Aside from NM Jeremy Marticio, WNM Jersey Marticio, Stephen Zane Quinto and Vincent Ryu Dimayuga, the Elite Chess Training Program also features WNM Antonella Berthe Racasa, NM Al-Basher "Basty" Buto, NM John Cyrus Borce, Pat Ferdolf Macabulos, Jan Clifford Labog, Tiv Omangay, Gabriel Ryan Paradero and NM Oshrie Jhames "OJ" Constantino Reyes.
