Canelo vs Jermall Charlo Could Happen September 16

PhilBoxing.com

After his most recent win against Briton John Ryder last month, super middleweight superstar Canelo Alvarez has tried to secure a rematch against the man who beat him last year: 175 champ Dmitry Bivol. That did not work.

Then, the super popular Mexican undisputed 168 champion tried a fight against 200-pound titlist Badou Jack at a catchweight of 180. That did not work out either.

Now, Canelo's eyes are on unbeaten 2-division world champ, reigning 160 champion "Hitman" Jermall Charlo (32-0, 20 KO's).

This one sounds better?

Because this one might work.

The Canelo, 32, vs Charlo, 33, rumble for the undisputed 168-pound belt could happen probably in Las Vegas on Mexico's Independence Day: September 16.

About the intriguing possibility, British promoter Eddie Hearn, boss of Matchroom Boxing, said:

“I think the Jermall Charlo fight is probably the favorite right now.

"I spoke with Eddy Reynoso (Canelo's manager and coach) last week.

"They (Canelo and Reynoso), wanted to fight Bivol. (But) we couldn't get past that line. So, we're looking at other options."

As times passes-by with Canelo needing a fighting partner for September's big Mexican day, it is getting more and more likely that Jermall Charlo could be Canelo Alvarez' next opponent. You approve of this one?

Or who would you really like Canelo fighting next, perhaps "El Bandera Roja" David Benavidez (27-0, 23 KO's)?

A former 168 champ, David Benavidez, 26, has wanted Canelo for some time. But it seems that Benavidez is also interested in Mexican Jaime Munguia (42-0, 33 KO's) and Cuban David Morrell (9-0, 8 KO's).

Whoever Canelo chooses for September 16, we'll let you know, keep you posted!
