FIGUEROA VS MAGSAYO... IT’S SHOWTIME!!!
By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Tue, 28 Feb 2023

This hot featherweight title rumble unfolds Saturday, March 4 (Sunday morning here in Asia), and can’t be missed!!
In a battle of former world champions, the Mexican-American “Heartbreaker” Brandon Figueroa battles popular Pinoy warrior Mark Magsayo in a crucial 12-rounder clash for the interim WBC featherweight at the Toyota Center in Ontario, California, live on Showtime.
Securing a win is so important for both fighters because the winner most likely becomes the mandatory for a world title fight against Mexican WBC Featherweight world champion Rey Vargas (36-1, 22 KO’s) later this year.
For that one, Vargas, 32, will have to come back down to 126, after trying to make it big at 130, but failing short against O’Shaquie Foster (20-2, 11 KO’s) three weeks ago.
Then, would it be Vargas VS Figueroa next? Or Vargas vs Magsayo 2?
In fact, the 27-year-old Boholano (24-1, 15 KO’s) lost a tough, close rumble against Rey Vargas last July, and would love a rematch!
For that to happen Magsayo is really needing to score a win this Saturday.
An exciting victory would elevate his standing as a world class warrior, maintaining himself among the featherweight elite.
A second loss in a row would not be good for the talented fan-friendly boxer born in Tagbilaran, Bohol.
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old Figueroa (23-1-1, 18 KO’s), is a former champ at 122, wanting to make his mark at 126. Will “The Heartbreaker” succeed?
👉Figueroa vs Magsayo this Saturday is really a good fight... would it end by KO?
