VEGAS Fuels Bulldogs Coach Prince Macavinta of Davao City is excited to compete in the Mindanao Finals of the MILO 3x3 basketball tournament on December 10-11 in Pagadian City.
“It's exciting and a good match because the champion teams are strong, all the teams that will compete in the Mindanao finals,” said the 36-year-old Macavinta.
Macavinta is coaching three teams in the Mindanao Finals – 16 Under, 14 Under and 12 Under who are sponsored by Farma Auto Supply, RS Tan Construction and Geek Team.
“And it’s challenging because you don't know your competitors and you don't have scouts with them,” said Macavinta.
The Vegas Bulldogs 16U squad is composed of Alvin Villanueva, Randy Gimena, Joseph Enrico Macavinta and Noel Lanceta while the 14U team will be bannered by John Miguel Oropeza Alberto Labandero Alexander Jose Ejurango and Duncan Tan.
The Vegas 12U team is played by Joshua Costan, Juaki Garcia, Benedict Claveria and Abram Amaneo.
“All of them are strong teams because they are all champions in their respective regions,” said Macavinta,
The Vegas Bulldogs teams owned by John Oropeza are practicing four times a week.
“We are prepared to compete and we will prove to all of them that we belong to the Mindanao Finals,” said Macavinta.
It will be the first time for Macavinta to coach a MILO 3x3 in the Mindanao Finals. He had already reached the finals in the MILO 5x5 but they lost in the championship.
