A new boxing promotion with former world champion and now US based boxing manager-trainer Morris East as associate partner will be launched in late August or early September in an inaugural boxing offering to be held in Dasmarinas City, Cavite.
To be known as JMS Anchor Promotions, the outfit hopes to contribute to the further development of Philippine professional boxing through the discovery and training of young aspiring fighters ideally from the grassroots and staging of competitive boxing bouts.
JMS stands the first names of primary licensed promoter Joel Paciones and associates Morris East and Atty Steve Santillan while the anchor represents the Merchant Marine profession where Paciones came from and also symbolizes sturdiness and stability which the outfit hopes to achieve as it joins the country's list of boxing promoters.
The outfit will be formally launched in an inaugural boxing offering which will be staged in coordination with and assistance of Mr Jovito A Paciones Sr featuring two of JMS Anchor's top fighters flyweight Christian Bacolod (13-1, 9 KOs) and lightweight Ryan Racaza (11-0, 7 KOs) in the main event in Dasmarinas City.
Bacolod and Racaza incidentally will first see action in a boxing promotion in Bukidnon this June 18.
JMS Anchor Promotions is in the process of grooming more young aspiring fighters who are going to be signed in the near future. The other fighters now in the fold of JMS Anchor Promotions are bantamweight Jerson Arigola and featherweight Rey Dogelio who are both undefeated with two pro bouts each.
