Game Alvin Medura Loses on Points to World-Ranked Tasana Salapat in WBC Asia Match in Bangkok
By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Wed, 27 Apr 2022

Brave lion-heart Zamboagueño Alvin Medura (10-6, 7 KO's) lost on points to Thailand's world-ranked WBC #14 WBA #10 Tasana Salapat (65-1, 48 KO's), Tuesday night at the Rangsit Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand.
With the 10-round unanimous decision win, the Thai Salapat retained his WBC Asia Continental Bantamweight Title.
There were no knockdowns nor cuts throughout the action clash dominated by the taller Thai fighter who made good use of his superior boxing skills, landing on the tough Pinoy with accurate left uppercuts, right jabs and right hooks.
Nevertheless, Alvin Medura, strong as a bull, was able to take Salapat's best power shots, never getting in serious trouble.
Medura landed some punches of his own manufacture, winning a couple of chapters, but the southpaw Salapat's boxing was indeed effective.
There were two accidental hard clashes of heads mid-fight, but luckily no boxer got cut and no points were deducted.
Medura did not come up on top on points, but proved to boxing fans in Thailand that he is a warrior of pride, strength and heart.
At the end of the battle, the two men embraced in the middle of the ring, showing sportsmanship, and then, scorecards were read.
Salapat and Medura wait for the verdict to be read after the 10-round fight in Thailand.
Numbers were unanimous 97-93 (x2) and 99-91 in favor of the Thai former world-title challenger Tasana Salapat, who wants a second shot at the Bantamweight title. Will he get it?
The current bantamweight kings are: WBA/IBF Naoya Inoue, WBC Nonito Donaire and WBO Johnriel Casimero.
Naoya and Nonito are locking horns in a super hot rematch on June 7 at Saitama’s Super Arena.
Tuesday’s evening of boxing in Bangkok was a production of Diamond Boxing live on True4U Channel 24.
