Devin Haney Decisions Jo Jo Diaz, Retains WBC 135 (Regular) Belt; George Kambosos in Australia is NEXT

PhilBoxing.com

Unbeaten tactical fighter Devin “The Dream” Haney (27-0, 15 KO's) successfully retained for the 4th time his WBC Lightweight (Regular) World Title by clearly outsmarting and outclassing tough coming-forward Mexican-American challenger and former champ Joseph “Jo Jo” Diaz via unanimous decision Saturday night, Dec 4, at the famed MGM Grand Las Vegas live on DAZN.

The shorter, aggressive Jo Jo Díaz was the one putting the pressure, picking up some rounds, but the outstanding boxing skills of the 23-year-old Haney saw him scoring the good win, securing a hot and big undisputed lightweight world title showdown against the WBA/IBF/WBO 135-pound king George Kambosos Jr. in his home country of Australia.

Haney (L) talks to Kambosos after Haney's win against Diaz Jr in Las Vegas Saturday night.

Fresh from his sensational victory over the previously unbeaten trash-talker Teofimo Lopez, the Australian Kambosos gentleman-likely congratulated Devin Haney on his win, shook his hand, and welcomed him to the land of kangaroos for a fire storm of leather, and, while no official announcement has been made, it seems so sure that Kambosos vs Haney is next.

Kambosos has become a top gun in the lightweight division, capturing audiences, gaining the full attention of boxing fans.

That’s why fans ponder this: when the two undefeated world champions George Kambosos Jr and Devin Haney meet on top of the ring for all 4 lightweight belts, who will score that huge win?

“I’d go to Jupiter to fight Kambosos,” said Haney to fans.

Myself, I think George Kambosos has the weapons and the warrior’s heart to defeat Haney, although Devin Haney has proven that he is a highly skilled tactical fighter in his prime with lots of boxing talent and a burning desire for being the weight-class’ absolute best.

Kambosos vs Haney for the undisputed Lightweight world title in 2022, a hot war that we can not miss. May the Best Man Win!
