Casimero Decisions Boring Rigondeaux, Wants Inoue By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Sun, 15 Aug 2021 More aggressive and determined Ormocanon Johnriel "Quadro Alas" Casimero (31-4, 21 KO's) retained his WBO Bantamweight World Title by landing a close but well-deserved win by points over Cuban former champ Guillermo Rigondeaux (20-2, 13 KO's) tonight in Carson, California, live on Showtime. Coming forward throughout the rather boring clash, the 32-year-old Casimero did enough to claim victory against the continuously retreating, back-pedaling southpaw Cuban veteran whose boxing style frustrated a number of fans who booed at him for several rounds. During the rumble, Casimero invited his opponent for more action, but to no avail as the non-apologetic Cuban preferred running away from danger. “That’s my style, that’s who I am,” said the losing Rigondeaux. At the end of the 12-round experience, two of the judges scored for the man from Leyte province 116-112 and 117-111 while the third one voted for Rigoundeaux, 115-113. Casimero uses his fingers to demonstrate who and how many boxers he want to fight next. During the Showtime post-fight interview, the smiling Casimero – who has been a champion of the world in 3 different weight classes – reasserted his willingness to unify world title belts against unbeaten Japanese sensation knock out artist WBA/IBF World Champion 🇯🇵 Naoya Inoue (21-0, 18 KO's). The riveting Inoue vs Casimero fight would be one of the most anticipated battles for bantamweight supremacy, and the winner likely facing WBC titlist “The Filipino Flash” Nonito Donaire (41-6, 27 KO's). Would the awesome Inoue vs Casimero fight unfold by the end of this year? Many fans think yes ... but who would win?
