PETECIO DEFEATS ARIAS, ADVANCES TO MEDAL ROUND
By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Wed, 28 Jul 2021

Nesthy Petecio of the Philippines defeated Yeni Marcela Arias of Columbia, 5-0, in their Tokyo 2020 Olympics quarterfinal women's featherweight bout at the Kokugikan Arena in Tokyo, Japan this morning to advance to the semifinals and is guaranteed to take home at least a bronze medal.
Petecio was all emotions when her name was called the winner, assuring the Philippines of another medal in addition to the gold won by Hidilyn Diaz Monday.

Arias came rushing in from the opening bell throwing a lot of punches but the world champion Petecio was more accurate in her delivery, timing the Columbian and countering effectively throughout the three rounds.
All judges gave the first round to Petecio, 10-9. In the second round three of the judges, saw Petecio ahead, 10-0 and in the final round, four of the judges gave the nod to Petecio.
