Gorički Absorbs First Loss in Germany

Croatian featherweight prospect Arijan Gorički absorbed his first loss against Valerii Romanenia of Ukraine at the Seebühne Elbauenpark in Magdeburg, Germany Friday, local time. With the loss, Gorički's record dropped to 8-1-1, 4KOs while his opponent Romanenia notched his 3rd straight win to go 3-0, 1KOs.
Below is his own report of the fight:
From the beginning Romanenia started waving and throwing punches. Near the end of the 1st round our legs got tangled, he threw a punch and I touched the canvas with my glove and the referee counted me for a knockdown. Romanenia was ready and persistent. It took me a few rounds to adjust because he is an awkward boxer. When I finally started to dominate, it was too late. In the 5th round Valerii touched the canvas but the referee did not see the punch and unfortunately there was no counting.
This wasn't just my night. Kudos to my opponent, he had a better day today. Even though I lost, my goal is still the same, I will come back and keep climbing the rankings. As in any sport, defeat is an integral part and the most important thing is how we take that defeat, I see it as a lesson and a lesson to further my career.
After this fight I have my new record at 8-1. Right now I'm thinking of taking a little break to clear my head and get back in the ring soon.
