Peñalosa transfers Laurente-Puton bout to Gensan

Gerry Peñalosa.

DAVAO CITY – The fight between Criztian Pitt “Golden Boy” Laurente and Vergil “Strong Man” Puton was transferred to Gen. Santos City by promoter Gerry “Fearless” Peñalosa, a former world champion.

It was originally set on May 29 at the Tanaw de Rizal in Laguna.

“Mahadlok ko basin ma abutan og lockdown sa Manila (I'm afraid there might be a lockdown in Manila),” said Peñalosa.

Both fighters belong to Mindanao. Laurente is from Gen. Santos City while Puton hails from nearby Polomolok, South Cotabato.

They were supposed to leave this Friday for Manila and scheduled for a quarantine in Manila.

But Peñalosa changed his mind because of a possible lockdown.

“Strikto sa Manila basi maabtan mi lockdown (Strictly in Manila so we can get a lockdown),” said Coach Titing Laurente.

The fight might be held at his own gym Laurente High Camp.

Laurente (6W-OL-OD, 3KOs) recently scored a unanimous decision over Ernesto “Chocolate” Saulong, who will now take on undefeated Carl Jammes “Wonder Boy” Martin (17W-0L-0D, 15KOs) of Ifugao for the main event in Rizal.
