DONAIRE GETS MONGOLIAN AS CHIEF SPARMATE!
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Thu, 13 Mar 2008
World flyweight champ Nonito Donaire has hired the services of a Mongolian amateur standout as his chief sparmate in the lead up to his April 18 IBF flyweight defense against Australia's Hussein Hussein in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The Arthro Kontra Arthritis-backed Donaire, who has been training at the Top Rank Gym in Las Vegas under the very capable Nonito Donaire Sr, has also been sparring against the regulars at Top Rank Gym in preparation for the fight.
Donaire versus Hussein will be the main event of the historic three world title bout card at Dubai's Aviation Arena put up by Third Force Promotions under Noli Eala.
Sportsman Jonathan Guardo, president of Uniherb, maker of Arthro, is scheduled to fly to Dubai with Uniherb vice-president for marketing Edwin Ratilla and some Uniherb executives to provide support to their product endorser Donaire.
Also defending his title on the same card is WBO minimumweight champion Donnie Nietes of the ALA Boxing Gym who will be challenged by Daniel Reyes of Colombia in another 12-round scorcher.
IBF light flyweight boss Ulises Solis is also set to defend his crown against Filipino veteran Juanito Rubillar in the third world title match-up in the show.
In a 12-round IBF eliminator, former IBF lightweight champ Julio Diaz battles the surging Australia-based Filipino Ranee Ganoy.
