Herring and Oquendo made weight. β β
Defending WBO Super Featherweight World Champion πΊπΈ Jamel Herring scaled-in at 129.5 lbs. while veteran Puerto Rican challenger Jonathan βPolvoβ Oquendo made 129.6 ahead of their 12-rounder battle Saturday, September 5, @ the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. βοΈ (Sunday morning here in Asia)
Both 30+ year-old men looked in excellent shape during Fridayβs weigh-in ceremony and the stage is ready for their rumble.π₯
Online betting sites have the 34-year-old Herring (24-2, 10 KOβs) as favourite to retain belt, with odds as much as 1 to 8. Thatβs a lot. π₯
But the veteran Puerto Rican (31-6, 19 KOβs) is an experienced warrior, and in boxing there are no small enemies. π§
In fact, this is Oquendoβs second shot at a world-title. So fans can be sure that the 37-year-old Boricua from beautiful BayamΓ³n, Puerto Rico, will fight his heart out. ππ
Will the Puerto Rican brother succeed in probably his last chance at becoming world champion? π§
Or will the fresher southpaw Herring be able to handle Oquendoβs glory-hungry spirit for his successful second world-title defence? π§
The interesting battle is promoted by Bob Arumβs Top Rank live on ESPN. β
