ANOTHER ELORDE SET TO TURN PRO!
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Wed, 05 Mar 2008
Following the footsteps of his grandfather, the greatest Filipino boxer of all times Gabriel "Flash" Elorde, 21-year-old Juan Miguel Elorde, who recently graduated at the College of St Benilde De la Salle, will now turn professional and will see action in his debut fight next month.
Fondly known as "Mig" to relatives and friends, the young Elorde will also be following the footsteps of his dad Johnny and older brother Juan Martin "Bai" Elorde, who turned pro early last year at his grandpa's old place in Cebu also after finishing a course in De la Salle University.
Bai has remained unbeaten in six fights, with one knockout victory, and has kept himself busy for his upcoming fight.
The 5'8 Mig, an orthodox fighter, will be fighting as a bantamweight, said his trainer Mario Lumacad in an interview in Cebu yesterday.
"Both Bai and Mig will be fighting on April 26, might be in Cagayan," the two young boys' mom Liza also told Philboxing.com this morning. The family owns a gym in that Mindanao city.
"Sana sa awards night on March 25 lalaban yung dalawang bata. Pero nag iba yung plans kasi busy sa preparations ng awarding," said trainer Lumacad.
