After ongoing coronavirus pandemic abruptly ended the 2019-20 campaign last March 12, a truncated NBA season is set to return in Orlando, Florida. Per Adrian Wojnanowski of ESPN, the NBA board of governors voted 29-1 in favor a return that will include 22 teams ---- 13 from the Western Conference and nine from the Eastern Conference. No definite date has been pegged yet pending more details to be worked out but here's what you need to know: 1) The 22 teams will each play eight regular season games with the No.8 and No.9 finishers in each conference fighting it out for a spot in the playoffs The No.8 placer will have a twice to beat advantage over the No.9 placer. 2) Training camp opens July 9 to 11. 3) Games begins July 31 while the playoffs, including the NBA Finals, end on October 12. Because the schedule that has been moved up, the 2020-21 NBA regular season is now projected to start "likely on December 1," ESPN reported. No word yet if media members, if any, are allowed to cover the games at the Walt Disney Resort. And barring any new developments, there will be no fans allowed in the arena.
