Tagbilaran City, Bohol – You read the scores right. In a game reminiscent of an All-Star exhibition match, top protagonists James Harden and Bradley Beal toyed with each other’s opposing defense, as the Houston Rockets edged the Washington Wizards with the slimmest of margins 159-158 Wednesday night (Thursday morning, Philippine time) at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.
Former league MVP James Harden topped all scorers with 59 points on an 18-for-32 field goal shooting, including 6-for-14 from the rainbow territory, to go along with 3 rebounds, 9 assists, and 1 steal in 38 minutes of game action. He also converted on 17 of his 18 attempts at the charity stripe that included the go-ahead freethrow with 2.4 seconds left on the clock.
Harden’s former teammate in Oklahoma and now new teammate in Houston Russell Westbrook, a former league MVP himself, posted his second triple double of the season by finishing with 17 markers, 10 boards, and 12 dimes for the Rockets, who improved their record to 3 wins and a lone loss.
Meanwhile, Bradley Beal scored 46 points, making 7 shots from deep, for the Wizards, who dropped to 1-3 on the win-loss column.
The Rockets travel to Brooklyn to next face the Nets on Friday night (Saturday morning, Philippine time).
The Wizards will try to bounce back Saturday night (Sunday morning, Philippine time), as they host the Minnesota Timberwolves in Washington.
