NBA Daily: Huge Upset as Ayton-less Suns Burn Clippers in Phoenix 130-122

PhilBoxing.com

Boracay Island, Philippines – Devin Booker came through with a solid 30-point performance to go along with 6 rebounds and 8 assists and help the Phoenix Suns protect homecourt against the erstwhile undefeated LA Clippers 130-122, Saturday night (Sunday morning, Philippine time) at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Clippers, known for their stifling defense, could not contain Phoenix’s crisp passing and ball movement, as every Suns player scored at least 4 points – six of them in double figures – and produced 32 assists as a team. This, even without Deandre Ayton, who was meted a 25-game suspension for testing positive for a diuretic – a banned substance.

Reigning Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard stuffed the stats sheets once again with a near-triple double of 27 markers, 8 boards, 10 dimes, 3 steals, and 1 block, including 3 makes from deep for the Clippers, who dropped to 2-1 on the win-loss column. But his efforts were put for naught, as Patrick Beverly was the only other Clippers starter who scored in double figures with 11 across his name.

Phoenix, whose only setback thus far this season was a 1-point overtime loss to Denver, is now tied with the Clippers in the team standings.

Up next for the Clippers are the Charlotte Hornets in Los Angeles on Monday night (Tuesday morning, Philippine time).

Meanwhile, the Suns will host the Utah Jazz on the same date.

How they scored:

Clippers 122 – Harrell 28, Leonard 27, Williams 23, Green 13, Beverly 11, Zubac 7, Shamet 6, Patterson 5, Harkless 2
