NBA Daily: Warriors Fall to Clippers in Golden State's First Official Game at New Arena 141-122

PhilBoxing.com

Cebu City, Philippines – It was supposed to be a huge celebration for the Golden State Warriors franchise, as they host their first official NBA game at the newly minted Chase Center in San Francisco, California, their brand new home court.

However, the reigning Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard had other plans, as he led the LA Clippers to a 141-122 walloping of the defending Western Conference champs, Thursday night (Friday morning Philippine time).

Leonard finished with 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 9 assists in just three quarters to help keep the Clippers unbeaten in two outings.

The Clippers have now consecutively beaten two of the consensus top teams in the west. The scarier part, however, is that they’re doing this sans All Star wingman Paul George, who is still recuperating from his shoulder injury.

Golden State had a glimpse of their new backcourt combo of Steph Curry and newcomer D’Angelo Russell. Curry led all scorers with 23 markers, but was a sorry 2-for-11 from the rainbow territory and committed 8 turnovers.

Russell had an efficient 20 points to his name, including 4 from deep, while also dishing out 8 dimes for his new team.

Up next for the Clippers is another road game versus the Phoenix Suns on Saturday night (Sunday morning Philippine time)

Meanwhile, the Warriors are looking to bounce back at Oklahoma City to face the Thunder on Sunday night (Monday morning Philippine time).

How they scored:

Clippers 141 – Williams 22, Leonard 21, Patterson 20, Harrell 18, Zubac 16, Shame 11, Harkless 10, Green 9, Beverly 5, Kabengele 3, Motley 3, Robinson 3

Warriors 122 – Curry 23, Russell 20, Paschall 14, Evans 14, Robinson III 13, Green 11, Chris 8, Spellman 8, Poole 5, Lee 3, Looney 3
