NBA Daily: Clippers Draw First Blood Over Lakers in Los Angeles 112-102

PhilBoxing.com

Makati City, Philippines – In a battle between two Los Angeles teams, the Clippers edged the Lakers 112-102, led by the reigning Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard’s 30 points to go along with 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell added 21 and 17 points, respectively for the Clippers, off the bench.

Newcomer Danny Green surprisingly led the Lakers with 28 markers on a 10 of 14 field goal shooting, including 7 from deep. Anthony Davis provided a well-rounded double-double performance of 25 points and 10 boards, with 5 dimes, a steal and a couple of blocked shots. LeBron James facilitated the offense for the Lakers with a well-rounded 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists of his own.

However, the Lakers gave up 60 bench points to the Clippers, while they can only muster 19 from their own shock troopers. The Clippers also outrebounded the Lakers 45 to 32.

The Clippers, who were without All Star wingman Paul George, will next face another acid test in the Golden State Warriors Thursday Night (Friday morning Philippine time) at the brand new Chase Center in San Francisco, California.

Meanwhile, the Lakers will try to bounce back, as they host the Utah Jazz Friday night (Saturday morning Philippine time) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

How they scored:

Clippers – Leonard 30, Williams 21, Harrell 17, Green 12, Harkless 10, Shamet 8, Zubac 8, Patterson 4, Beverly 2

Lakers – Green 28, Davis 25, James 18, Bradley 8, Dudley 6, Daniels 6, McGee 4, Cook 4, Howard 3
