NBA -- Kevin Durant unlikely to play this upcoming season
By Ricardo Carbajal PhilBoxing.com Thu, 26 Sep 2019
CHICAGO- When Kevin Durant chose Brooklyn as his next destination after leaving the Golden State Warriors as an unrestricted free agent this past off-season, Nets fans in New York and elsewhere were naturally giddy with excitement.
The thought of having Durant play alongside Kyrie Irving, who also bolted from the Boston Celtics to showcase his talents in the Big Apple, was reason to rejoice indeed.
But some of the excitement was tempered on Tuesday when Brooklyn Nets GM Sean Marks announced that Durant will likely miss the entirety of the 2019-20 season as he continues to rehabilitate from a career-defining injury.
Durant raptured his Achilles heel in Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals last June when the then two-time defending champion Warriors lost their title to the Toronto Raptors in six games.
Apparently, the Nets are playing it safe, making sure Durant is 100 percent healthy before stepping back into the court.
Durant, a 6-foot-11, 240 pound forward is a ten-time All-Star and two-time NBA champion. He was also a two-time Finals MVP and averaged 26 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists last season, helping the Warriors reach the Finals for the third straight year.
