Sosa Decks, Stops Rhodes in Seven
By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Sun, 11 Aug 2019

Boricua former WBA 130-pound world champ Jason "El Canito" Sosa (23-3-4, 16 KO's) of New Jersey came-in in top form delivering a crushing body-attack beat down of Oklahoma tough man Haskell Lydell Rhodes (27-4-1, 13 KO's) for a rough round seven TKO win today at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The energized, effective Sosa dropped Rhodes several times -- one of them in back-rolling fashion -- during the course of the non-title power battle till top third man Benjy Esteves Jr. halted actions as Lydell's corner signaled surrender.
Sosa, 31, a coming-forward fighter who two years ago was overpowered by the sensational "Hi-Tech" Vasiliy Lomachenko (13-1, 10 KO's), this time was the dominating factor.

Jason Sosa (L) raises his hands in victory after stopping Lydell Rhodes in the 7th round Saturday in Philadelphia.
The Puerto Rican ended the fast-paced rumble bleeding from a cut over his left eye, courtesy of Rhode's non-intentional headbutting. However, no points were deducted.
Fantastic win for the world-ranked Jason Sosa -- loving father of three kids -- who now wants to get in the ring with reigning hard-hitting WBC Super Featherweight World Champion Miguel "El Alacran" Berchelt (36-1, 32 KO's) of Mexico.
Could the Miguel Berchelt vs Jason Sosa clash be next?
The Top Rank Promotions clash was seen live on ESPN+.
