Former ALA Fighter Rey Caitom Wins in Singapore

PhilBoxing.com

Undefeated Filipino minimumweight fighter Rey "The Future" Caitom Jr. (8-0-1, 3 KO's) dropped and stopped in two rounds Thai former titlist Khachonsak Pothong (aka Kaichon Sor Vorapin), in a non-title clash last Saturday, June 29, at the popular Juggernaut Fight Club in the Lion City, Singapore.

Caitom, 33, a former ALA fighter, effectively countered the advancing pressure from the veteran Pothong (25-19, 9 KO's), who came to Singapore wanting the win.

But it was the Filipino the one destined to come out victorious.

Two times Caitom rocked his bigger foe to the canvas, both times as result of crushing right hands. The first knock down was a product of a perfectly placed right straight to the chin of Pothong, which deposited him momentarily in the middle of the ring.

The second and final downing unfolded after a double right hook to the jaw of the Thai warrior, for which the Thai referee had not choice but to waive off. Pothong was not going to get up anyways.

It was a short lived combat, though "The Future" appeared fast, strong and well-trained in his second combat after a long hiatus from boxing; and now looks more than ready for more wars.

In fact, in his younger years, Rey Caitom became a multiple-time Filipino national amateur gold medalist. His quality still shows. The referee for the fight was Visuth Yingaupagarn of Thailand.

MORE RESULTS FROM THE LION CITY

In other results, Singapore super bantamweight warrior lady "The Sniper" Nurshahidah Roslie (14-2, 11 KO's) proved to have to much power and skills for her brave Thai opponent Siriphon Chanbuala (12-9-2, 5 KO's), stopping her during the rough action of chapter five en-route to a TKO win. Roslie, 31, showed to fans once again that the can hit really hard with both hands. The third man in charge was Thawuth Pluemsamran of Thailand.

Plus, Singapore's 24-year-old super bantamweight "Mr. Fantastique" Muhammad Ashiq (7-1, 6 KO's) bounced back from a bad loss in his prior combat to secure a second round knockout victory over unheralded Thai veteran Yotchanchai Yakaeo (26-15, 21 KO's).

With the win, "Mr. Fantastique gets back to the winning circle, wanting more challenging missions. Thawuth Pluemsamran of Thailand was the third man.

In lightweights, Syrian-born debutant Orwa Issa (1-0, 1 KO) stepped with success into pro boxing by unleashing a storm of leather on Malaysian newcomer Murugan Silvarajoo (0-1, 0 KO's), halting him in the sixth and final round. The ref was Visuth Yingaupagarn of Thailand.

The entertaining evening of boxing last Saturday, June 29, at the Juggernaut Fight Club in Singapore was a production of Singapore Fighting Championship (SFC).
