GORRES NOT TAKING DARCHINYAN LIGHTLY
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Wed, 09 Jan 2008

ALA Boy Z "The Dream" Gorres is so focused in his upcoming fight he only sees Vic Darchinyan morning, afternoon and evening.
Gorres takes on the tough-talking Australian on February 2 in a final eliminator for the IBF title. The winner moves on to challenge IBF superfly champ Dmitri Kirilov.
"I've been studying his tapes all the time. I have several of his tapes, including the Donaire fight where he did the spaghetti dance," Gorres said yesterday after doing several rounds of sparring.
The talented southpaw did a full twelve-round sparring yesterday against lightweight Glen Masicampo, bantamweight Mark Gil Melligen, and upstart Rey Villar, who will see action in the undercard against Philboxing.com's JV Tuazon.
Gorres has been doing his morning runs either at the gated Maria Luisa Estate Park or at the Mandaue City roads leading to the Marcelo Fernan Bridge.
"My runs in Ma. Luisa are very punishing. I am not taking Darchinyan lightly," stressed the soft-spoken fighter.
ALA chief trainer Edito Villamor revealed that Gorres has already sparred some 70 rounds in his lead up for the Darchinyan showdown.
"He's been training since December when he was supposed to fight in an exhibition bout that did not push through. He should be in terrific shape on fight night," said Villamor.
