By Jason Aniel PhilBoxing.com Fri, 08 Mar 2019

OAKLAND ?It has not been a good stretch for the Boston Celtics. Losers in five of their last six games, they Celtics were not expected to walk into Oracle Arena and take down the defending back-to-back champions, Golden State Warriors. But not only were they victorious, they handed the Warriors? their worst loss of the year, 128-95.
It was a big night for Gordan Hayward, who logged in 30 points off the bench, going 12-16 from the field. Kyrie Irving had a double-double, scoring 19 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Jaylen Brown, 18 points, Jayson Tatum, 17 points, and Marcus Morris, 10 points, also contributed in Boston?s balanced offensive performance.
The Warriors rank first in total points scored, but they couldn?t buy a bucket all night. The Warriors shot only 40 percent from the field. Kevin Durant was far below his stellar self, scoring 18 points and shooting 31 percent from the field. Two other Warriors were also in double figures with Stephen Curry?s 23 points, and DeMarcus Cousins? 10 points.
Despite their worst loss of the year, the Warriors are still in first place in the West, and will now look ahead to a big game against the Denver Nuggets on Friday. The Nuggets are only 1.5 games behind the Warriors in the standings. Head Coach, Steve Kerr, is expecting All-Star, Klay Thompson, who missed the last two games with a sore knee, and rotation regular, Kevon Looney, to return for Friday?s marquee match-up.
