Second Overtime: All signs indicate that AD is bound for LA
By Homer D. Sayson PhilBoxing.com Wed, 30 Jan 2019

CHICAGO -- After seven seasons and 451 games of pouring his heart and soul unto the New Orleans Pelicans, Anthony Davis wants out and has politely asked to be traded.
It's a sad day indeed for the Pelicans, but a potentially happy one for the Los Angeles Lakers, the team The Brow is likely to join when everything is said and done.
But why now?
Because A.D. is probably tired of losing. Tired of the playoffs disappoints. Arguably the best big man in the NBA today, Davis should be playing for a title late in June every year. Instead, he is going home in early May.
Whatever his reasons are, it doesn't matter. Just like you and me, Davis has the God-given right to pursue happiness wherever that takes him.
So where now?
With an asset like him, a five-time All-Star who is averaging 29.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.6 blocks per through 41 games, teams with assets and who have a good chance of making a run at the Larry OBrien' trophy, are licking their chops to attain him.
The Lakers, however, are steps ahead of the arms race. Last September, Davis switched agents and signed with Rich Paul of Klutch Sports. Paul happens to be best friend and agent of LeBron James, who stirred the pot last December when he said it would be "amazing" to play with the Pelicans juggernaut.
Had he stayed in New Orleans, Davis would have been eligible to sign a super max deal worth $240 million. But whatever money he loses for signing less with the Lakers will be compensated by the endorsement opportunities he will command in the world's second largest media market.
LeBron and Davis doing Showtime sounds like fun.
