BATAWANG VS SOLIS TO HEADLINE ZANFER CARD
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Wed, 12 Dec 2007

Filipino Bert Batawang's crack at IBF junior flyweight champion Ulises Solis will headline the "Golpes de Poder" fight card put up by Zanfer Promotions on December 15 at the Auditorio Benito Juarez de Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico.
According to Guillermo Brito Rodriguez of Zanfer Promotions in an article posted at Boxlatino.com, the bouts will be televised live in Mexico by Aztec 7, including the nine other fights on the card.
Batawang, along with trainer Jeremiah Quijano and manager Sammy Gello-ani, left for Los Angeles the other day, and are slated to fly to Guadalajara, Mexico today. While in LA, Batawang was slated to work out at Freddie Roach's Wild Card Gym.
"I am not looking for a decision win. I am going to Mexico to knock him (Solis) out," Batawang told the media in a recent press conference organized by Gello-ani.
The Cebu-based Batawang, who trained at the famed ALA Gym for the fight, will be looking to avenge the defeat suffered by compatriot Rodel Mayol at the hands of Solis in August.
"Mayol has given me helpful tips on how to beat him. He might opt to run, but he can't run for twelve rounds," warned Batawang.
Solis (25-1-2, 19 KO's), who will be making the seventh defense of his IBF title, will be facing the 36-year-old southpaw Batawang (50-6, 34 KO's).
The other bouts on the card pit Humberto ?Betillo? Guti?rrez (21-0-1, 17 KO's) against Rodrigo Ju?rez (13-4-1, 10 KO's) in a ten-round bout; Fernando ?Wary? Beltr?n (29-2-2, 17 kos) against Panama's Jos? ?Exterminador? Arboleda (22-2-1, 8 kos); Sa?l ?Canelo? Alvarez (9-1-1, 7 kos) takes on Rigoberto Alvarez (3-2, 1 kos); Victor Terrazas (13-1, 5kos) battles Hern?n ?Tyson? M?rquez.
