MAYWEATHER TKOs HATTON IN ROUND 10
By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Sun, 09 Dec 2007

LAS VEGAS -- Hatton's bullying and a rabid British crowd that filled that 16,000-capacity MGM Grand Garden Arena were no match to Mayweather's excellent boxing skills here tonight.
Pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather, Jr. of the US proved to one and all that he is the best fighter on the planet by pumelling former unbeaten fighter Ricky Hatton of the UK into submission timing Hatton with a perfect left cross in the 10th round to send Hatton to the canvas for the first time. Hatton beat the count but Mayweather sent Hatton to the canvas again with powerful left crosses to the head as Referee Joe Cortez came in to stop the contest.
Hatton was able to lead the contest in the earlier rounds by bullying Mayweather all over the ring but a punch by Hatton to Mayweather's head in the 6th round resulted a one point deduction for Hatton though Hatton may still have won the round for his agressiveness.
Beginning the seventh round however, Mayweather eluded Hatton's clinching and begin to time Hatton with accurate counters to begin to dominate his British opponent.
In the 8th round, Mayweather hit Hatton with a right cross that snapped Hatton's head. Mayweather exhibited his extra-ordinary boxing skills that Hatton's looked like a lost man at this point trying to find his target to no avail.
In round nine, Mayweather hit Hatton with well-timed jabs at will. At this point there was no doubt that Mayweather will win the contest.
