Curry's MRI results encouraging - Kerr

PhilBoxing.com

Stephen Curry left Thursday?s game against the Milwaukee Bucks in the third quarter with an abductor strain, but results of the MRI only showed minor injury.

On Friday (Saturday in Manila), Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters that Curry got ?encouraging? news from his MRI. However, he will sit out Saturday?s (Sunday in Manila) game against the Brooklyn Nets, and it?s unclear how much time he will miss.

Kerr said it will be at least a few days before Curry gets back on the floor, but Warriors are glad injury wasn?t that serious.

Kerr added that Curry is ?bummed out? about the injury, but the team is confident it will not be a long-term issue.

The Warriors lost Friday?s game against the Milwaukee Bucks without Draymond Green and Shaun Livingston, both of whom missed the contest with separate foot injury.

Curry dealt with some nagging injuries last season that lingered into the playoffs, but they didn?t stop Golden State from repeating as champions. They?re hoping he won?t miss an extended period with his latest ailment.

Kerr, meanwhile, again expressed he was ?devastated? by another mass shooting and made an ominous remark about how sadly routine dealing with such tragedies has become.

Ian Long, 28, a Marine Corps vet, entered a bar in Thousand Oaks, Calif., on Wednesday night (Thusrday in Manila) and opened fire, leaving 12 victims dead, including Filipino-American teener Alaina Housley. Long also was found dead with what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Kerr weighed on the latest outburst of gun violence ahead of the Golden State Warriors? 134-111 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks at Oracle Arena.

?It?s devastating for everybody,? Kerr said in a repost by the San Francisco Chronicle. ?I know we?re going to have a moment of silence tonight. We had one last week, I think. We?re probably going to have one next week. That?s the reality until we do something about it. It?s beyond sad. It?s devastating.

?? I just feel devastated for the victims and their families,? Kerr added. ?I read a lot about it today, and it?s just horrifying for the families involved and the young people who lost their lives. It?s devastating for everybody.?

Kerr is an outspoken advocate for gun control, a position that can be traced back to his father?s assassination by two gunmen in Beirut in 1984. The Warriors head coach never shies away from talking about the issues related to gun violence each and every time such a tragedy occurs.

When asked about the mass shooting in a Pittsburgh synagogue a few weeks ago that left 11 people dead, Kerr providing a sobering quote about the ongoing frequency of such incidents.

?I just expect it now, and that?s the sad thing,? Kerr said.
